I feel terrible not updating this blog for so long, I just wanted you to know that I have no plans of closing down this blog.

My sister and I are supposed to move out 2 months ago but the construction of the new place has been long delayed. They told us that it will be ready next week but I heard that too many times, so I'm not packing my bags yet. Haha.

It will be a really small place but my sister and I have been planning everything-- from the lighting down to which linen spray we wanted to use. We even have the full-length mirrors and bathroom candles ready.

As soon as everything is settled, I shall bombard you with updates.

Summer Rut

I realised that during this time of the year (which is summer in Manila), I'm on hiatus. Aside from the really important things that I have to get done, I don't want to do anything because of the weather.

And so now it's starting to cool down a bit, more updates in the next coming weeks. I missed my life! Haha.

Summer is melting my brains off. Really it's too hot I want to staying home until summer ends but I also feel like a loser for not having been anywhere this summer. I'd probably plan a getaway after summer.

Mise En Place

The last couple of weeks have been awfully busy for me-- aside from the usual stuff I also decided to take baking classes, and I'm really having a grand time! And Mise En Place is just something they kept repeating at school. Just look it up if you don't know what it means. Haha.

I took photos of the stuff I've been making just to practice and some for friends. May I remind you that I never really had professional training aside from the things I learned from my mum and some short baking courses I took when I was a kid. So please go easy on me :)

Hair Post Part 2: Brushes, Hair Removal, More Products

Finally! It took me almost a year to write this sequel to Hair Post Part 1. What a shame!

So let's start off with the brushes...

Mason Pearson brushes and a round styling brush (that I just got from a drugstore). Aside from these 3, I also use a wide-toothed comb to style my hair after washing.

I got these Mason Pearson brushes because I read everywhere that they're the best in the world, and really they are! If you're all for quality over quantity, boar bristles are a good investment.

Here's what Mason Pearson says:

Que rubber-cushion pad, made by hand using Mason Pearson’s original techniques, allows for effective and efficient brushing. It is kind to use and massages the scalp.

The cellulose plastic handle is hand-polished and any sharp edges are removed to make the hairbrush more comfortable to hold. This handle was developed from the original wooden design which we continue to make in small quantities.

We continue to try to improve on the established design : for example, the "Child" brush is in response to a customer’s request. This is designed to enable a child to become accustomed to the activity of brushing. Similar to this, in the materials used, is the "Sensitive", which has been developed for people who have thinning hair or very fine hair. This brush gently stimulates the scalp. The natural extension has been to have a "Sensitive" model for those men who are "thin on top".

We build our products to last as long as possible. While we cannot make indestructible products, we use the best materials available so that, with a little care, they should give good service.We try to make improvements continuously. We have developed our own special nylon and take particular care in our selection of natural bristles to use the best combination for each brush.

No! No! Laser Hair Removal set. It really works but you have to keep doing it over and over, and since I started using it the hair on my legs got thinner and lesser and I have to admit that I also use it for facial hair once in a while. If you wanna get rid of unwanted hair permanently, I reckon this is cheaper instead of going to a dermatologist for laser hair removal sessions. But of course that is more guaranteed to be safer. Kind of smells bad after using it because of the laser but all you have to do is wash it off so it's fine.

Remington Electric Epilator. This is also quite good except you have to grow your hair a certain length so it can pull the hair up to the roots-- the only advantage though is that it will take a while for the hair to grow back. Hair didn't grow thinner and lesser over time, which is completely fine as long as they don't become thicker!

Fekkai Daily Protein Fortifier, Pantene Night Miracle, Pantene Leave On Creme, Frizz Leave-in Conditioner, Veda Hair Vitamin, Terax Life Drops.

Fekkai is considered as one of the best brands out there when it comes to hair products-- I'm not quite a fan because although it really makes your curls bounce and volumize your hair after blow drying, I just don't like it when I cannot glide my fingers smoothly thru my hair and well, I almost never blow dry my hair. The Daily Protein Fortifier is really really good though! Terax Life Drops is also protein for the hair and is also one of the best ones. Fekkai, Frizz and Terax are all on Allure's top hair products. You gotta read that section, most of the stuff they suggest are awesome!

Fanny Serrano Hair serum, John Masters Organics Hair Treatment, Phyto Anti-Frizz, Kerastase Nutridefense.

Haven't tried the Fanny Serrano serum just yet cause my sister just got it a couple of days back and I don't use the John Masters Organics because my hair is already pretty thick but according to my sister it works just fine. Phyto Anti-Frizz and Kerastase Nutridefense are great as well-- Phyto works best when your hair is completely dry and Kerastase when your hair is damp.

Joico Finishing Spray, Palmers Olive Oil Spray Oil, Mane 'n Tail Hair Strengthener Spray, Mane 'n Tail Revitalizing Creme, Organix Coconut Milk.

The Palmers one is good except it can be too oily so I suggest you put it before you shower and massage it thru your hair and scalp. Mane 'n Tail is really good especially the Revitalizing Creme plus it smells good. Organix Coconut Milk smells good too but I haven't tried it long enough to say it's good.

The annual ABBC Banquet-- this time at the Champagne Room at Manila Hotel. Very beautiful place.

I had this dress made 2 days before the event and got it on the day itself. The bottom part was really horrible you can't even imagine. So I had to do some last minute draping (or whatever you call that) at the back part of the dress. I should seriously stop the habit of doing things the very last minute!

My Cupcakes/Fondant

I had a white leather bracelet that I got from Mouche in Lt. Collins, very similar to that brown leather one. I got it for 15 bucks and so I couldn't believe it when I saw this for only 300 Pesos, less than 10 bucks!

I have been baking furiously the past days, I'll be putting them up here as well.

Memories In A Bottle

Most perfumes you smell in the counter will definitely smell different once you put it on and after a few hours, especially when you start to sweat. I became more careful with selecting my own perfumes after I figured which undertones work best with my body chemistry.

I love perfumes for another reason-- they're like time machines bringing me back to certain memories, feelings, people, places. More memories over here.

Prom King

I was helping out my (baby) brother get dressed for his Prom the other day. Time goes too fast-- we used to just play around and now he's got this deep manly voice and he's taller than me!

His Balenciaga coat. That's right, a 54. Haha!

In other news, as part of the project, I decided to bake again like I used to. But this time I wanna try new stuff aside from those ones that I've already been making before. And for my first marshmallow fondant cake.. Tadaaaa! Imagine the mess I had to clean up.

Ended up making the tried and tested red velvet cupcakes since it's Valentine's. I'll be trying out new recipes next week :)

Photobooth-ing

I was cleaning up my closet and I found this vintage button-down dress that I've had for years-- sad to say, it's one of the things I decided to give up. I just realised that I'm keeping some clothes in my closet because of their sentimental value and not because I still like to wear them. I don't know how long I'm gonna keep them in there, maybe for a couple more years. Haha!

Hand-me-down Gianni Versace top from my sister. It's quite oversized for me of course but I'm in love with it-- the material, the colour... Aahhhh! I will take proper photos next time.

I have this big project in mind, which is I guess mainly the reason why I've neglected this blog the past weeks. When everything's in order I shall put it up here as well ;)

I'm never a fan of silky straight hair. But today is quite an exception and I reckon it's quite nice but that's still not enough to make me a convert.

Diamond ring from my grandmother and the turquoise and gold ring I got from NYX (that I love too much I never took it off since I got it).

And here's one of the things I received for Christmas (from my beloved sister)-- an Emporio Armani coat. I definitely love the colour and the fact that it's very light. Something I could still wear in Manila when it gets a little colder than the usual.

After I washed my hair I guess that sleek hair is never gonna happen again. Haha.

Can't believe that we're already halfway through the first month of the year. Too fast!

Out For The Count is a 15 piece jazz band-- one of my favourite bands at Rainbow Hotel (Melbourne). They cover Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Sammy Nestico, Henry Mancini, Frank Sinatra, Ray Charles, Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, and Nancy Wilson just to name a few.

Here's some of the photos I took for my photography class-- so sad that I left my sketch pad/portfolio with all my projects. And I have no idea where the original good quality photos are now.

It's the first Sunday of the year and this is what I wore to church today: Leopard print top from Savers, button-down skirt from Cordier, bag from Tilkah, peep-toe suede pumps from People are People-- one of the things I got myself for Christmas. Seriously those heels are pretty you won't believe how much I got it for.

I wish you all had a grand time during New Year's eve. Here's a couple of shots I took from our rooftop, I didn't stay long though cause I honestly felt like the fireworks are gonna fall on me. Haha.

Seeing as one of our favourite magazines is Allure and I love the "Best of Beauty" sections at the end of the year, I decided to do my own to share what my sister and I have been using.

Tea Tree blemish stick from Rustans Essenses, The Body Shop Green Tea concealer stick, Dr. Brandt Pores No More, L'oreal Age Re-Perfect Re-Plumping Foundation, Revlon New Complexion Foundation, Benefit Dr. Feelgood Primer, BronZinc tinted moisturiser with SPF30+, Invisible Zinc Tinted Daywear Light SPF30+, Invisible Zinc Tinted Daywear SPF30+, Hissyfit Saving Face SPF30+ in Sand, Fresh and Medium, L'oreal NutriSummer SPF15.

The blemish stick from Essenses actually has better coverage than the Body Shop one, so it's quite a steal. The Dr. Brandt pore minimiser is the best, I was told by the girls at Mecca Cosmetica in Melb that this is widely used by professional makeup artists as it smoothens out the skin and it feels so soft! The Benefit Dr. Feelgood is an awesome primer, it's like the everyday version of the Dr. Brandt pore minimiser. The Hissyfit tinted moisturisers are multitaskers as they're for sun protection too and it lasts a long time. The L'oreal NutriSummer bronzer smells great and we always used it during winter. We always got so pasty because of the cold so we slather this on in the morning and before bed just to get a little glow.

MaxFactor Facefinity Compact Foundation SPF15 in Natural, Clarins Teint Ultra-Velours Compact Foundation in 03, L'oreal Roll-on TrueMatch, The Body Shop Pressed Face Powder in 02, YSL Eclat et Matite Pressed Powder, Chanel Compact Powder, Nude Mineral Translucent Powder, Bourjois Eclat Mineral Powder, MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural, Revlon PhotoReady, Maybelline ClearSmooth in Honey.

My sister swears by her Chanel compact, MAC mineralize skinfinish and the Bourjois mineral powder. The MAC works pretty well and will last for months, but be sure you get a good brush to apply it with. I swear by my YSL compact, Nude mineral translucent powder and Revlon photoready. We always get one good compact to bring everywhere and 2 other mineral powders to get that sort of glow. Don't we all want to look illuminated? Haha the things we do.

ROC Retin-Ox Illuminateur in Dore, NARS The Multiple in South Beach, Benetint by Benefit, Benefit bronzing & highlighting face powder duo, NARS blush in Deep Throat, MAC blush in My Highland Honey, Stila matte blush, Duwop blush stick, Revlon Beyond Natural blush & bronzer, L'oreal bronzer, Shiseido multi-shade enhancer in Summer Glow, By Terry Blush Veloute in Ginger Glaze, BECCA beach tint.

Everyone claims Benetint is the best and it certainly lives up to its name. My sister's favourite illuminator is that one from ROC, which works well with her skin tone and surprisingly, the Stila blush lasts long on her. My choices would be the NARS multiple in South Beach --- I usually dab it last or mix it a bit with my moisturizer. The NARS blush in Deep Throat is a good shade, a little bit pinkish than the widely known Orgasm; I use this blush and contrary to popular belief that powder blushes don't last long, this sits well with me. It lasts all day as long as I use a good blush brush. I've been using my new MAC blush in My Highland Honey as well and it gives this really nice glow, perfect for tanned skin.

Lancome Colour Design eye shadow palette, L'oreal eye shadow palette in Honey Brown, MAC eyeshadow palette, Bourjois black eyeshadow, Maybelline gel eyeliner in black. Eyeliners and Liquid liners from Chanel, MakeUp Forever, MAC, Clarins, L'oreal, Revlon, Rimmel, Maybelline, RedEarth, Styli-Style, Lancome, MaxFactor. Shu Uemura eyelash curler.

Okay as for these, all I can say is we use mostly brown and nude-pink shades for eyeshadows and black or navy blue eyeliners. MAC, Makeup Forever, Revlon and Cover Girl are the best liners when it comes to non-smudging and being waterproof, but the MakeUp Forever one uses up so fast that it probably won't last for month. Everytime you use it you're going to have to sharpen it. And of course, for eyelash curlers, there's no other brand to use but Shu Uemura. You have to use it and see for yourself.

Mascaras: L'oreal Telescopic Explosion in Noir, MaxFactor Lash Extension Effect in black and deep blue, MaxFactor 2000 Calorie in black, MaxFactor Masterpiece Max in black and brown, Lancome More Than Mascara, Givenchy in Phenomen Black, L'oreal Collagene Extra-Volume (waterproof), Maybelline Great Lash.

For mascaras, you have to remember that there isn't much difference when you look at your eyelashes whether you use low-end/drugstore ones such as Maybelline, L'oreal and MaxFactor or when you splurge for Givenchy or Lancome. The difference lies in the formulas because when you put on the pricier ones, they're very soft on the eyelashes and they definitely don't flake. They're also very easy to take off and not harsh on the eyes.

Revlon Just Bitten Stain+Balm in Frenzy, NARS lip liner in Pop Life, The Body Shop lip liners in Clover Pink and Mauve Berry, Skin Food Tomato Jelly lip tint, Alison Rafaelle Lipskins, Laura Mercier lipstick in Seduction, One Naturales Shea Butter lip balm in Berry Delicious.

In search of the perfect lip colours, we're recently drawn to lip liners. The Body Shop ones are good for everyday, and the NARS velvet lip liner is awesome! It goes on smoothly and lasts long, even through a meal. More on the favourites here: Quality Over Quantity: Lip Care Post

Christmas Day

Christmas I reckon is always the best in the Philippines. As soon as Halloween is over, you can feel Christmas everywhere. I felt like I had to much things to do so I haven't had sleep for like a week now! Spent Christmas day with my family of course-- basically shopping and eating. I'm just so glad and thankful that we're complete this year.

I wore my very impractical Helmut Lang top today with a champagne red coat from Theme, vintage croc skin handbag and my current favourite rings for my left hand. I love that top but I just can't wear it by itself because it's kind of sheer and the back is completely bare. And as you know, I'm almost never bare.

I'm really excited for Christmas. I was thinking of making Sticky Date cake with caramel sauce and different kinds of Australian cheese for Noche Buena. 2 days to go!

Joined a bazaar in Alabang the other day along with a couple of girl friends-- fun and at the same time exhausting. I got myself a few nice stuff and a very pretty ring. Hey, it's Christmas anyway!

I am the only one who doesn't have a label since I'm only trying to get of old stuff from my closet. Hopefully I can join another bazaar or whatever since I have heaps more to get rid of I just couldn't manage some time over the week to sort them out. Here's some photos from our very own space.

I coloured my hair the other day :) I wore a silk purple dress (that I just altered because it looked like a robe) from Currency (Collins Street branch), Celine flats, Celine purse, gold chain belt from Lost & Found Market.

My new ring from NYX-- I really have a thing for turquoise/green and gold. They only have one shop in Alabang Town Center but the owner told me she's soon going to put some of her stuff at Amina Aranaz's shop in Rockwell. I'll definitely come and visit!

Blues Night

Blues Night in Conspiracy where my dad's band played-- pretty much the only band I watch. There's heaps of good bands out there I believe but I just can't be bothered. I was actually looking forward more to the late dinner after.

There's nothing more I hate than the smell of smoke so I went out to get ice cream.

I wore a Versus by Gianni Versace polo shirt, vintage suede trousers, Celine (Paris) purse, Enzo Anglioni flats-- I'm afraid I'd have to give it up soon cause it's so beat-up. It's been my school shoes when I was still in Melbourne and it's gone places with me and now it's time to say goodbye.

My current favourite. I just recently realised that the local Celine shop here in Manila is not at all connected with Celine Paris. That long strap is not a part of it, I just borrowed it from another one of my handbags.

And of course dinner with my sister and my dad. I was wondering if my tummy hurts so bad after because I'm too full or was it because I laughed too much over dinner.

I know it's late but still, Happy Thanksgiving! There's really so much we need to be thankful for everyday.

These are all my sister's, I'm pretty sure she has a couple more but I don't plan on going through her whole closet just to find them. The colour palette is insane, I sometimes wish we can share clothes!

I believe our love for coats started after we moved in Melbourne. And I also believe a woman should keep at least one classic coat in her closet. I'll be putting up here my very own next time.

So this is what usually happens: My sister and I would shop together. Then she cooks and I clean up her mess and the whole house. So she takes me out somewhere fancy because I did all the cleaning.

Today I was feeling extra girly. I spent extra time picking which perfume to put on and ended up with Gucci Flora. It really does set up the mood.

I missed my Skagen watch so I wore it today. I'm not really a into bracelets and cuffs but today I wore my gold chain bracelet from Melbourne Central and a Mouche white and gold bracelet, both are from my dear sister. She would always call me to come home quick because she has a surprise for me, sometimes I'm in the middle of class and I just wanna ditch it. Haha. I don't wear this too often because I'm afraid I'll lose it and because it hurts everyone who shakes my hand. Ok too much side stories.

Next up are from the dinner party in our rooftop last week. Food catered by my mum and the whole place was set up by her waiters. I wore a vintage red dress from Lost & Found Market and cinched it with a black suede/felt belt. Feels like Christmas already!

No, I'm not slacking off. I'm a working girl now btw so the past weeks it's been work and sleep. The best part is I have more reason to dress up everyday I just wish I had a minute to take an outfit shot. I'll definitely post some of them here soon.

In other news, I was breaking out terribly but I'm glad it's getting better now. And that only happens here in Manila since my skin is so sensitive to pollution etc. Plus I'm a person who likes to try pretty much all the beauty products and home-made whatevers out there. So I came up with a title for my next post: With Great Beauty Comes Great Responsibilty. Haha.

A lot of people will probably think I'm a lunatic but I really wish that typhoon hits Manila tonight, it's been too hot the past days. But that didn't stop me from buying coats so hopefully sometime soon I can get a taste of Winter. I'm dying to wear them!

Another dinner date with my sister, this time at Lusso. Aside from their brilliant menu, the ambience and the interiors of the restaurant lured me. There's heaps of other more great restaurants we've tried, I promise to bring the proper camera next time.

Good food, foot massage and a long day with girl friends-- what more can I ask for. A friend from Melbourne came here in Manila a month ago for her last minute wedding preps. Since she's been terribly busy we only got a whole day to catch up. She's getting married in 2 weeks!

I'd say it's quite challenging to style/work on something that's not completely your own. It would've been a whole different story if that isn't the case because style to me is something very personal. But I definitely had a grand time and it's so much fun working with all of them. The "It" Bag Phase

In random order: Chanel, Chloe, MiuMiu Coffer, Fendi, YSL Muse, Marc Jacobs Stam, MiuMiu patent handbag, Christian Dior and a couple more non-designer and vintage bags.

This is our bag rack a few years back, at one point. Through the years my sister and I kept buying more and I can't even remember most of them unless I still have it with me or I see an old photo. Some of them with my mum, some left in Melbourne, some traded for another nice bag with friends or sold. I really don't believe in "It" bags, it just happened that I liked the bags that are labeled as such.

Although I love designer bags I find some sort of satisfaction in finding vintage bags, somehow I feel like they have a story to tell and a certain uniqueness. And up to now, I still remember the first time we met. It was beautiful.

Oh, I edited my closet a few days ago and I posted some of my stuff on ebay. Maybe I'll put them up here as well. Have a great week!

It was a very simple African-Filipino wedding and a year from now they'll be off to Ghana, Africa to be missionaries. That's just wonderful.

There's something about weddings that makes me all dreamy (and I believe you all feel the same). So before I retire to my chamber, here's some Ella Fitzgerald.

One of my birthday resolutions is to start writing for this blog again. So hello I'm back! I had a wonderful time yesterday -- breakfast, some new stuff, birthday presents, deserts, dinner with the family and too much laughing. Priceless.

We went to my favourite Indian resto for dinner and my colours are perfect for the place: one-shoulder bandage dress from Dotti, oversized cardigan from Dotti (borrowed from my sister), Mulberry Alexa bag, sandals from The Ramp, vintage gold eagle necklace, green emerald ring, oversized gold Nixon watch (which is originally my sister's but I convinced her to a deal because I want that watch so bad).

I've always wanted a gold ring with a green stone. I found a YSL one but of course I couldn't afford that much of a splurge now. And it's really hard to find a good one because it's either not the perfect shade of green I want, the hardware is silver, or it just looks too tacky. Then I found this beautiful ring just perfect in every way so I shall call it my 21st Birthday ring. Haha!

Eagle necklace is from Sportsgirl Vintage Collection. I really love it but I am planning to replace the gold chain with a better one.

I have a really big thing for papers, notebooks and post-its-- I was supposed to get a Moleskine like the one I had but this one is much better because it's thicker and its made of rubber, really feels awesome to touch it. Oh, and it's almost half the price of a Moleskine notebook (hooray for me!)

I am in the process of reinventing my life at the moment-- starting off with little things such as reading a book and working out. Things are starting to fall into place and I've never felt so peaceful. I feel amazing.

The Grand Hotel/Grand Central Apartments

In the 2 years that I lived in Melbourne, I moved 9 times from one apartment to another -- so you can imagine how much of an expert I am now when it comes to that! Especially when all your stuff are already out on the street and all of a sudden the taxis won't give you a lift. Add the fact that it's a Sunday. Horrid! Well that's not even the worst.

Grand Hotel/Grand Central Apartments is our first ever apartment in the CBD and is one of my favourites. I love the whole vibe of the place and the pool and the sauna are perfect since I stayed in here during Winter time.

It's just like a block away from Crown Casino and right across Southern Cross Train Station.

Food and More Food

Met up with my cousin and sister the other day and that means food and more food. My cousin and I exchanged gifts -- I gave her a handbag (the green printed leather up there) and she gave me the orange and gold neckpiece I've been wearing on the photos.

Then we headed straight to karaoke (of all things) after dinner. We had such an awesome time!

Just a couple more photos from the other day when my sister made a red velvet cake for me. I reckon the best red velvet cupcakes are from Little Cupcakes in Degraves Street (Melbourne) and since I got here in Manila I've been on a search for a good one (and I haven't found any yet).

As you can see in the photos, the cake started to crumble down before she can even put the icing on top. And she still has to work more on the texture of the icing but really she did a fantastic job! I almost finished the whole cake.

De La Salle College of Saint Benilde's graduation show tonight. They did a fantastic job and I'm wondering what could've been if I pursued fashion school.

Hair Post Part 1

It's time for a hair post whoopdeedoo. Everything about hair gets me excited because, well, I do take care of mine. It's one of the many things my dear sister taught me. My signature hair has always been short since I decided to cut it off when I was 15 years old because I couldn't decide what to do with it. Would you guys believe that I once had my sister backcomb it so I could have dreadlocks? I did achieve the semi-dreadlocks look but it got old real fast and all I was left with was a head full of tangled rough hair, and to take off all that damage I had to have it cut.

Anyway I've had short hair ever since and I never imagined I would grow it long. During our stay in Oz, my sister grew hers and really took care of it, meaning she sat wherever there was good lighting for about an hour or so after she washes her hair just to comb it and cut split ends strand by strand. Seriously.

We now have this crazy idea that if you love your hair, it will love you back. Haha.

Okay so here are the products that we use the most and work really well, in our opinion.

from L to R: Simplicite Coastal Banksia & Orange shampoo, Simplicite She Oak & Lime conditioner, Trilogy Clean + Balance conditioner, Trilogy Clean + Balance shampoo

The 2 sets of shampoo and conditioner currently on rotation. It helps to invest in a good set of these as it helps protect hair over time. Most (and I'm not saying all) regular shampoos and conditioners you find in your local supermarkets have added stuff that can be harmful and drying to your hair.

from L to R: Kerastase Volumactive foam, Bumble and Bumble Thickening Hairspray, Frederick Fekkai Luscious Curls Wave Spray, Frederick Fekkai Coiff Spray, Pantene Detangle Spray

The ones above are mostly used by my sister as she has fine thin hair. The Kerastase Volumactive has a lovely smell. The Bumble and Bumble Thickening Spray kind of has an off smell BUT it works wonders in terms of volumising hair. The Frederick Fekkai ones are great if want to achieve that wavy hair look without trying too hard (meaning you wouldn't need hair curlers or something). The Pantene detangle surprisingly smells good and it does leave the hair softer.

The Joico K-Pak Reconstruct Split End Mender is amazing, I use it on the ends of my hair when it's already dry, and the Kerastase Lumier Nutri-Sculpt is a leave in treatment. The Ojon Daily Intensive Shine Treatment is amazing! It's like a better version of Joico for split ends, I use it on the ends as well when my hair feels extra dry and frizzy. The David Babaii Bohemian Beach Spray smells like the beach, and I mean everything that reminds you of the beach. It's good for the hair and makes it shiny, plus you can use it to make your hair a bit wavy. The Schwarzkopf Liquid Silk Gloss doesn't smell good but it makes hair really soft, plus who can resist the teeny tiny sparkles that come with it? When you put it on it's like your hair is glowing.

Pure Argan Oil Treatment, Moroccan Oil Treatment

And the favourites at the moment: Argan Oil and Moroccan Oil. Actually, Moroccan Oil is just a fancier version of Argan Oil, meaning it just has a few added ingredients but the main stuff is Argan Oil too. They both have a distinct smell that tends to grow on you. I cannot even begin to describe what it does to our hair --- shiny, smooth, volumised, smells divine. Ahhh. Don't you just love sniffing on your hair when it smells good?

Melbourne Post: Green and Fur

I reckon green and gray or any other kind of fur look great together. That fur coat is one of my ever favourite pieces but I left it in Melb because it's just too heavy/bulky and it's impossible to wear it in Manila anyway. I call it my Winter 2009 coat.

I miss the warmth only fur coats can give.

Pheromonia

All this talk about pheromones got me into thinking if they do work on humans. I've read somewhere that they don't exist when it comes to people, just insects and even plants. In a nutshell, pheromones are chemical-like secretions that trigger some sort of attraction from the same species. Anyway all I know is, if you've got the right scent, you will feel great no matter what and it will show.

Our perfumes at the moment --- mine, my sister's and my Mum's. We tend to share and switch scents depending on our mood.

Vera Wang Look, Burberry Brit for women, Stella McCartney Sheer, Escentric 02, Clinique Happy in Bloom, Clinique Happy Heart, India Hicks by Crabtree & Evelyn, Givenchy Le Secret, Versace Bright Crystal, Marc Jacobs Daisy, D&G Rose the One, D&G Light Blue, YSL Young Sexy Lovely, Unforgivable Woman, Gucci Flora, Chloe.

Going back to our pheromone talk, however, there's Escentric Molecules, a line of perfumes they're currently talking about especially in Europe. They say it has an effect on the people who smell you among other things. But really, the greatest factor that made my sister get one is the fact that Giovanna Battaglia wears this. Our common love for Giovanna overshadows everything else haha.

Escentric 02

The line has 4 at the moment. They released Escentric 01 and Molecule 01 a few years back, and they recently released two new ones, the Escentric 02 and Molecule 02. My sister got the Escentric 02 from Mecca Cosmetica in Melb and we both have been using it ever since. Sometimes by itself, most times layered with other perfumes. It does create a distinct smell, and we have been getting lots of compliments or questions as to what we're wearing. The biggest hurdle I guess is the fact that when we've finished this one, it would be hard to get another because it's not sold in the Philippines.

Kimono

Nothing from my wardrobe appealed to me today so I borrowed my sister's gray kimono from Resort Report and paired it with Christian Dior belt, yellow pencil skirt, Tilkah bag, neckpiece from Felicity (Philippines), Robert Robert platforms from Zomp.

I'm having a hard time coming up with blog titles. I apologise if they are sometimes lame. Happy Holy Week!

Manila Heat

Summer here is just too much to bear and I'm trying to stay home as much as I can. And I had to wear eyeglasses until my eyes are completely fine. I like it though, makes me look smart I think haha.

These are from the other day in Makati. Black lace-y top from some Japanese designer, pinkish vintage trousers, black speedy bag (gift from mum), Enzo Anglioni flats.

Then the other night we went out to get desserts because it was hot and because well, we just love to eat.

Simple black dress, long cardigan from Supre (Australian brand), black belt from Christian Dior, purple bag from Tilkah (Chapel Street). The brown bag is my sister's (a gift from me with love).

Next ones are from today. My mum just felt like using her mini chocolate fountain, too bad we just had marshmallows and strawberries.

And of course, meee. Oversized top from some vintage shop, navy blue trousers, my current favourite bag.

I coloured my hair light brown btw, and my biggest problem all the time is that my hair gets really dry. But not this time because of some magical (haha) hair products. I'll write about those next time.

Chinese New Year 2008

This was during my first days in Melbourne. My hair was real short then and I was too colourful/quirky I guess.

I already ditched the red heart sunnies and the jelly flats and they're nowhere to be found in my wardrobe now. To be honest I sometimes cringe when I look at some old photos but I liked it then and that's part of whatever my style was. 2 years definitely changed me in many ways.

Today is mum's birthday so we went out to dinner at our favourite Japanese resto.

I just wore jeans, animal print top from Warehouse, turquoise and gold belt from Forever New, black leather Milano House long strap bag that I got somewhere in Chapel Street, a gold scarf ring (that I wore as a ring on my pinky) from Lost and Found Market. The moment I saw it I knew I'm gonna wear it as a ring.

And the awesome awesome food

Quality Over Quantity: Lip Care Post

Those who know me really well will agree that I incessantly put on lip balm or whatever lip product I have in my bag. My love for lip products started with Blistex actually, and through the years I realised (after trying almost every brand out there, thanks to my sister who spends more for these than I) that it doesn't necessarily mean it's good just because it's expensive.

From Blistex I moved on to the Body Shop lip butters, which seemed good at the time but was quickly replaced by Burts Bees. And from there I've tried countless other products, so I've finally narrowed down my list to my favourites.

And here are the favourites.

The Lipstick Queen is very sheer, and don't let the name fool you --- it's very moisturising. I think it's their new line of lipsticks which aren't drying at all and has subtle shimmers to make teeth whiter (or so they say).

Elizabeth Arden 8-hour lip protectant stick also moisturises really well and has a hint of colour. It smells similar to the popular 8-hour cream and I think this is a limited edition thing.

The Juice Beauty lip moisturizer is the darkest one in a set of 3, and they're all good. It's relatively cheap too, as a pack of 3 costs the same as a single lip balm in other brands. The downside of this though is that after quite a while, it tends to crumble down. So I guess you'd just have to use it all up before that happens.

The Dior Serum de Rouge is amazing, when you put it on it looks as though your lips are smooth and silky, and add the fact that it doesn't leave it dry. I don't know if they've just run out of other colours but the last time I checked at Rustans Essenses, they only have one colour available.

Lanolips is my super duper favourite, and its very cheap too. It leaves your lips moisturised and soft for hours. My sister knows how much I love this so when she got here, I think she brought like 5 years' supply of Lanolips haha.

YSL exfoliatiing lip balm is great too because do you notice how sometimes, for some lip balms, it tends to leave some residue over your lips and it feels sticky? This is where this goodie comes in. The exfoliating particles are cooling as well, and it's a lip balm too, so it's great.

Korres lip butter has natural ingredients and has a tint too. You've probably noticed that I'm leaning towards lip balms with colour. Because the thing I hate most is dry and lifeless lips haha.

The By Terry glosses are Sarah Jessica Parker's favourite, and with good reason because they give good natural colour. They aren't sticky too, and it comes in pots which I prefer.

And finally, the Armani lip wax is just genius. You might think it won't last long because it's in a small compact but I've had it for months and there's still quite a lot in there. Its not moisturising but it gives good colour and it lasts the whole day. You can dab a bit if you just want stained lips and layer on more if you want full-on colour.

My sister bought all these stuff in Oz but I think some of them are available locally. You can check out Beauty Bar and Essenses because I think they carry some of the brands.

I have to post more because the photos I have here are piling up. I'm thinking of what other interesting things I could put here --- any suggestions? I'm a newbie haha.

Outfit Post: The Girls

ABBC Banquet at the Manila Peninsula in Makati.

Mum and I. She wore a Karen Millen champagne gown, chandelier earrings from Mouche, gold clutch bag, Armani brooch, gold watch from Skagen.

And here's my lovely sister wearing a turquoise goddess gown (no idea where she got it from), the super sleek blue and gold watch (that I really wanna steal) from Nixon, long strap bag from Sportsgirl.

For that night, I wore a Vicki Allen salmon orange dress Currency (one of my favourite vintage shops in Brunswick Street), white and gold cow skin belt, black clutch from Lost and Found Market, gold chandeliers from Diva (Australian brand), shoes from People are People (first thing I bought when I got here in Manila), red and gold cocktail ring from a shop in Degraves Street. That red ring reminds me of so much things, well not only that ring but a lot of the stuff I love has a story behind them which makes them more special. One day I'll write about all of them hopefully.

This Week

Hello darlings! This has been a crazy week for me starting off Monday with the Ladies' Conference. To make up for days' hiatus, I will bombard you with 2 outfit posts and several other photos.

For the Ladies' Conference, turquoise Barkins silk top, tangerine skirt, necklace from Sportsgirl, Enzo Anglioni flats (which you can't see in the photos), bird origami ring from the St. Kilda markets, Zoe Wittner long strap bag.

Next ones are from Grandparents' 50th Wedding Anniversary. There's not much photos but anyway, I wore a black corset dress from Cue, gray Sportsgirl heels, green and gold neckpiece (I forgot where I got it from), Skagen watch.

In the photos are of course my grandparents and my younger brother (who's now way bigger than me). We're joking that he looked like a politician with the Barong in case you're wondering why we look like that.

Blue Vintage Dress and Statement Rings

Sunday is church day and family day, so here's my first outfit post. Had desserts (among other things) at Greenbelt this afternoon with my sister and brother.

Blue vintage dress from the vintage shop in Prahran (Melbourne). Bally bag (a gift from Dad). White belt from Lost and Found Market (Fitzroy). Gray shoes from Sportsgirl (Australian brand). Most of my stuff at the moment are from Australia because I haven't done much shopping here in Manila yet, and these are the things I've acquired in the two years I've lived there.

Also, you can see here a photo of my right hand where I always wear the same three rings --- two gold ones in my middle finger and a silver snake ring in my ring finger.

The left hand is a different story. Showcasing my current favourites --- the silver Colombian handmade ring I mentioned in my previous post, and the colourful floral one. The right hand rings vary, most times depending on my mood or whatever I'm wearing.

A Little Bit Of Everything

To start things off, here are some of my favourite things right now.

The Elle Mcpherson corset my sister bought me (which is yet to arrive --- waiting kills).

The very pretty but rather impractical Isabel Marant dress from my sister and cousin, which I still haven't worn.

A portion of my sister and I's ring collection. I have new babies she brought over from Australia --- a handmade silver ring from Colombia, an origami bird ring, and a colourful one. But more details on those later.

I'm kind of grasping in the dark here. I don't know which ones to post first, don't know where to start. It's extremely overwhelming. But as they say, things will look better in the morning, so maybe then I'd know what to do.

After years of contemplation on whether it would be a good idea to blog, I eventually ended up on blogger's front page and found myself clicking the 'create a blog' icon. Inspired by the countless other fashion blogs and my love for great pieces (plus it would be such a waste if I did not somehow immortalise my things while they're still alive and well, wearable), I've joined in the bandwagon.
